Medical Research Scotland Academy 2021

Medical Research Scotland has launched a new digital learning series featuring inspiring young scientists encouraging S5 and S6 pupils to study STEM subjects.

The new Medical Research Scotland Academy will host virtual events for schools every Friday in the month of March 2021. The interactive webinar series will be broadcast to students across Scotland as a 45-minute live stream. All sessions will be free of charge for schools.

Each event will feature an inspiring young scientist at the cutting edge of their field as well as University lecturers and industry leaders from across medical research, science and technology. The young scientists featured are all studying at Scottish universities, thanks to funding from Medical Research Scotland.

If Scotland’s lockdown restrictions ease by March, pupils will put their science skills to the test by doing their own practical experiments, following on screen instructions from scientific researchers.

The Medical Research Academy welcomes pupils of all abilities who have an interest in science, are considering further education in the area or would like to learn more about careers in medical research.

Teachers can register their pupils here.
