With the current obesity epidemic in mind, our interest is in identifying mechanisms of improving satiety and understanding signalling mechanism involved in body weight regulation that might help combat this worldwide problem. Food-gut-brain signalling is very important in this regard. We have performed animal experiments where macronutrient (fat, protein or carbohydrate) levels have been manipulated. This project will investigate mechanisms behind potential metabolic benefits from added soluble dietary fibre in laboratory rats.
