This project focuses on the development of theory-driven assessment methods for the preclinical or early prodromal detection of dementia. Such methods involve behavioural (i.e., memory functions) and biological (i.e., electrophysiological -EEG- correlates) techniques. The evidence collected with such tools provides the theory necessary to develop technology driven interventions (i.e., virtual reality tools) which aim to enhance congnitive functions in those cognitively affected (Mild Cognitive Impairmments – MCI). Such interventions rely on meaningfull approaches (i.e., ecologically valid) which restore and rehabilitate cognitive functions in a way akin to how people function in everyday life settings.
