Medical Research Scotland needs your support
- Medical Research Scotland was set up in 1953. Since then, it has awarded more than £30 million in grants for research in Scotland. One of its earliest grants was to Professor Ian Donald, for his pioneering work on obstetric ultrasound. You can read about the work being done by some of the most recent recipients of our grants in our Annual Reports.
- Medical Research Scotland receives no public funding.
- Medical Research Scotland supports research into the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all types of disease (including cancers, heart disease, stroke, infectious diseases, arthritis and neurological diseases). Your support for us is of most value if you don't specify a particular disease, but if you would prefer to be specific, then you can be assured that we will comply with your wishes.
- The endowment fund is split into a fund for general medical research and additional separate funds which are earmarked for research into the following:
- Neurological diseases
- Cancer
- Arthritis
- Diabetes
- Kidney diseases
- Cardiac & vascular diseases
You can support Medical Research Scotland
- Through single or regular tax-efficient donations, using Gift Aid.
- By specifying in your Will that Medical Research Scotland should be a beneficiary (we can provide your solicitor with an appropriate form of wording if required).
Whichever way you make a donation, Medical Research Scotland will ensure that your wishes for the use of your money will be fulfilled.
